"I see now that art might be the most important thing I ever do."

My relationship with art has ebbed and flowed, but the artist inside always remains alive.

HOW IT STARTED

I was privileged to have a small, intimate art class at school with some of the best teachers in the country. We were given free rein to experiment with any medium/media, and this is where my love for watercolour, pencil and particularly shadow boxes came alive. â€‹

My first shadow box resulted in receiving the school's Best Artwork prize.

However, the realities of the world were apparent to me, and instead of pursuing fine art, I felt it prudent to study technology. â€‹

WHERE I AM

I don't regret this for a second. I've been able to apply my creativity differently. â€‹

Furthermore, it enables me to follow my passion for art - albeit not full-time.

Art has shaped my perspective on the corporate world, and the corporate world has shaped my perspective of art.

"Contributing to the world" was always my goal, and I thought IT would be the best way to do so.

I now see that art might be the most important thing I ever do.

WORKS

Much of my focus is on bespoke artworks, currently - pieces that hold deep personal meaning for my clients.

I love the process of bringing their ideas to life, capturing a moment, a memory, or a feeling in a way that is uniquely theirs.

Seeing what matters most to each person - the moment they choose to immortalise on paper - is always enthralling.

The concepts they bring are often ones I’d never have dreamed up myself, and that’s what makes the process so special.

Why these media?

There’s something captivating about the way watercolour builds in layers - a journey unseen to the viewer - each wash adding depth and texture until the subject truly comes alive.

The precision, detail and predictability of graphite pencil contrast with this, but is equally as beautiful for its own reasons.

The experience: playlist

I have found a few musical artworks that I enjoy while making art - so much so, I feel they play a large part in my own works.

Here they are for you to experience, too:
