“I now see that art might be the most important thing I ever do.”
My relationship with art has ebbed and flowed, but the artist inside always remains alive.
I was privileged to have a small, intimate art class at school with some of the best teachers in the country. We were given free rein to experiment with any medium/media, and this is where my love for watercolour, pencil and particularly shadow boxes came alive.
My first shadow box resulted in receiving the school's Best Artwork prize.
However, the realities of the world were apparent to me, and instead of pursuing fine art, I felt it prudent to study technology.
I don't regret this for a second. I've been able to apply my creativity differently.
Furthermore, it enables me to follow my passion for art, albeit not full-time.
Art has shaped my perspective on the corporate world, and the corporate world has shaped my perspective of art.
"Contributing to the world" was always my goal, and I thought IT would be the best way to do so.
I now see that art might be the most important thing I ever do.
